Pregnancy Update: 29 Weeks

We (Tanner and I) started childbirth classes last night! They are a little freaky (especially when the teacher showed us a pie chart that was all pain until she added more things to it), but overall have great information. I'm so thankful that Tanner is willing to take these classes with me and be there in whatever way I want him to be when I go through the labor process. Some of the men there didn't seem too interested. We go to an Anesthesia class tomorrow night to learn all about the medicine available for pain management. I'm actually excited for this class! As to how I'm feeling... hmmm. Well, I was feeling good when I woke up! I have even felt so good throughout this past week that I cleaned our bedroom (that needed it badly) on Saturday. It has relieved a lot of stress already! Now I just need to get to the rest of the apartment and the boxes in all of our cupboards. I have already set aside "chores" for me to do while I'm on maternity leave before the baby comes, so I won't go crazy at home. I cramp everyday, but it was worse today than it normally is. So, I know that with some couch rest, all should be good later!
In other news: my freezer is making weird noises...

Happy New Year's!

Happy New Year's to everyone! We had so much partying it up New Year's Eve! Or NOT! We went to bed at 9:00 pm and it was wonderful! Out of the three New Year's that we have spent together, we have slept through two of them. We probably would've slept through the other, but we dating then. I was very pleased that people in our complex didn't go out of their apartments and do crazy New Year's Eve things. There wasn't any noise at all to wake us up! So, here's a list of what we did in 2009:

Feb:
-Moved out of Tanner's parent's house and into our first apartment! (I promise... I will post pictures someday)
April:
-Got a laptop for my birthday. I turned 22!
May:
-Went to Mike and Liz's amazing wedding!
June:
-I went to Mark's high school graduation in Utah. It was my first out of town trip without Tanner and I missed him so badly that I couldn't sleep. But, I did bond more with my niece and sister in-law!
-Tanner got laid off for a week or so.
July:
-Find out we were pregnant!
Sep:
-Regained our full membership back in the LDS church
-Supported my mom through her divorce.
-Tanner turned 23!
-Felt the baby move for the first time!
Oct:
-Tanner got laid off for a couple of weeks.
-Got Sealed on Halloween
Nov:
-Tanner ran a half marathon without any training!
-Tanner's brother Jared came home from his mission and I was able to meet him for the first time!
-Went to Utah for Thanksgiving and my Grandma's 80th birthday party!
-Spent a few hours in the hospital due to the above Utah trip
Dec:
-Tanner got laid off again, but for good from the company this time.
-Got my first cold while pregnant... AWEFUL
-Watched my stomach move because of the baby for the first time!
-Spent Christmas with both my side and Tanner's side!

Well, that's all I can think of right now. As for our resolutions here they are:
Tanner: His New Year's Resolution is to lose 40 pounds of fat and gain 20 of muscle.
Heather: To be more clean (apartment wise) and be a good mom!

After I just read that I wanted to be a good mom to Tanner, he added: Tanner's other resolution: Don't kill the baby.

Hmmm...

My Favorite Movies of 2009

Tanner and I are huge movie fans. If we had the money, we would be at the theater every day! Ok, maybe not, but close. So, I decided to post a list of my favorite movies of the year 2009. I was going to post my favorites of the decade, but that would take a lot of time so we'll see if I ever get to it. Some of these are R-Rated (I will specify their rating). I haven't seen every movie that came out this year, even some of the good ones, so if it came out, is amazing, and isn't on my list, I might not have seen it. At the end of the list I will list movies that have come out this month that I haven't had a chance to see yet, but want to.

-Watchmen: (Rated R) This movie was great. Mostly for the way it was shot and the cool effects. I wish that we had had the chance to see it again in theaters!
-I Love You, Man: This was a great comedy! It's rare to find a movie that makes me laugh a lot, and this did.
-The Soloist: (PG-13) Of course I will pick a music movie! This movie made me a bigger fan of Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. They were amazing in their rolls.
-X-Men Origins: Wolverine: (PG-13) If you like X-Men, you'll like this movie. Tanner liked it a lot more than I did, so I decided to post this on the list for him.
-Star Trek: (PG-13) AWESOME! I'm a HUGE JJ Abrams fan and he did an amazing job on this film! I was a fan of Next Generation and had never seen the original Star Trek, but now I don't want to. This movie and the cast were great!
-Up: (PG) So cute and actually funny! It's rare for me to find a kid's movie with so many laugh-out-loud moments!
-Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: (PG) This movie didn't live up to my expectations, BUT it was great if you look at only the Harry Potter movie sides of it.
-GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra: (PG-13) Again, another movie that I'm adding for Tanner. He loves this movie. It is admittably a great action flick.
-Julie and Julia: (PG-13) Do NOT see this movie on an empty stomach. I left this movie feeling like I could do anything I wanted as long as I put my mind to it. And wanting to cook more of course!
-District 9: (R) I think that I should start by saying that I love dark movies. A lot of my favorite movies are dark and hard to watch for a lot of people (like Pan's Labyrinth and Children of Men). This movie is one of those. It's hard to watch because of the torture of the aliens just trying to get home and what happens to the main character. It's a movie with a lot of depth that I think should have gotten more advertisement.
-The Twilight Saga: New Moon: (PG-13) Although many people are torn as to whether or not they like this movie because it doesn't go exactly like the book, I loved it, but I have separated the movies from the books now (even though you can't really see the movies without reading the books). The music really made the movie for me. The scene where time is passing was done perfectly in my book!
-Sherlock Holmes: (PG-13) So funny! I went into the movie not expecting so much humor at all. It was a good surprise. Robert Downey Jr once again was surprisingly amazing!
-Avatar: (PG-13) This movie is now in my top 5 favorite movies. It's hard to explain why I love it so much so let me just say this: Tanner was so into this movie he didn't move. I actually thought that he was sleeping because he is always tapping his leg or moving around, but he didn't move. I was the same way, which for me and my pregnancy state is not normal right now. We will be seeing this movie again in theaters and I hope that more people will see it.

Movies that came out this month that I still want to see:
Princess and the Frog
Nine

Movies that I'm looking forward to seeing next year (that I know of and can think of off the top of my head):
The Lovely Bones
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Alice in Wonderland
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1

Pregnancy Update: 7 Months

I'm 28 weeks pregnant today! This little guy just keeps growing more and more every day! Now that the holidays are over for the most part, I can start to prepare myself for the baby. We start our childbirth class next Monday and I'm super excited. So far, this past month has been the easiest as far as eating and not getting sick is concerned. I still have the intense cramping, but hopefully that will get better soon. I really need to take it easy. I tend to over do things and then regret it later. With the busy-ness of Christmas gone, I can finally relax. It has really helped that I chose to use all of my vacation days for this past week or so. Today is the last day of "freedom" before the new year (when vacation time starts again but I shouldn't use any because I'll be leaving for maternity leave shortly anyways). I'm taking this day to rest and do the things that need to be done before I work again. I tend to be so exhausted after work that my apartment falls apart cleanliness-wise, so it's always good to get everything done over the weekend or time off. This weekend, since I have New Year's Day off, I will be preparing the baby's room! We have been using that room as a storage/piano room, so I'm moving the keyboard and my music books as well as anything not baby oriented. The only piece of furniture that we are lacking is the crib, so I will be posting pictures once we get it and set everything up. I'm so thankful for all of the help that we are getting with the baby already! I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year's! I will post about my holidays once I get some of the pictures from family members.

Tanner's side of the family was all in town for the Holidays, so we got together and took a family picture.

Pregnancy Update: Week 27

I don't have much to say to update this week. It's been a stressful week, so I'm feeling more cramping than I normally am. All it means is that I need to listen to my doctor and stay on the couch instead of doing things like cleaning my kitchen. (I did that Saturday... not a good idea). Tanner's entire immediate family is in town this week so we're having a lot of fun catching up before everyone leaves again. I have decided that even with this intense cramping, I have felt better in the 6th month than I have throughout the rest of the pregnancy. When I'm not in pain, I have more energy and feel like doing more than I have so far! I just have to learn how to do more and not feel it later....

Random Fortunes

My mom, Tanner, and I went to Chinese (no MSG) on Monday night. These are our fortunes:

Tanner: You are independent politically. (true for Tanner)

Heather: You will attract cultured and artistic people to your home (I hope so)

Kim: Maybe you can live on the moon in the next century (HUH?????)
